This photo is here to give you a perspective of the Emmons Glacier Cave photo...already in the portfolio...and other pictures that I will submit in the future. Of course the big white thing on the right is our beloved Mt. Rainier (elevation 14,410 ft). The peak on the left is Little Tahoma Peak (elev. 11,113 ft). The Emmons Glacier is the slab of constantly moving ice nestled inbetween them. The reason the lower part of the glacier is brown is from the rocks that collect as the lower mts. erode from the constant snows/rains each year. At the far left is where the cave is...or not, depending on whether it has collapsed. It is the origin of the White River, that eventually flows within 2 mi. of my home in Enumclaw,(elev. 700 ft.). In 2003, there were 2 river sources coming from the glacier...like I have said before, it is always changing. If you think this is amazing, wait until I introduce you to the Carbon River Glacier!!!!
