Sci-Fi Pirate

this is my most recent endeavor into ballpoint pen territory. i think im getting the hang of this. im not exactly sure when i started this; im still posting over developed doodles; i havent had much time for actual drawing lately. im sure this is at least partly if not heavily influenced by Paul Hughes Silverthought trilogy which im about to finish. this does not depict a particular character from the books, but considering that it would appear to be a pirate in a science fiction setting, i believe the influence is there. its a male, i know its not a very good male, but the masculine features are there, maybe just not as apparent as they should be. i've never actually drawn an adam's apple before. i wanted to depict someone different than my usual: at least slighted aged, beset with sorrows, and at least slightly masculine. not to mention i've been obsessed with bandanas in my doodles on my notes for some reason. i wanted the skin to look like it could have concealed a painful exterior. i dont think scars are needed to show experience. i wanted to give a rough and calloused (not literally) effect to the skin, and i feel i've succeeded. i wanted to reflect inner turmoil and a history of war and having seen things no one should have to see, how that might look years later. tell me what you think of this.
