La Papesse

The human being believes there must be an answer for everything, but there are some things that it's better to accept because as yet there is no scientific explanation. The human mind is full of images, real and imaginary cohabiting side by side. When I started this painting I had no idea where it was going as I hadn't done my usual sketches. It is a work of symbolism and the surreal. It almost painted itself! Do you ever get the feeling that you're being taken over............?

I like this one. The woman sitting there with her familiar. The baleful moon representing Diana behind her, and Athene the owl, goddess of wisdom close by. The compass could represent direction, but none is shown. Is it that we have to make our own direction in life? Or is it all pre ordained?

Doesn't feel great to let yourself go to your creation?! That's how I operate and you came up with some lovely results Rusty, symbolism abounds with looseness and careful attention to certain details, well done
