His innovatif use of mixed media and the effect ofageing that he creates adds a unique quality to his works. Anuar's paintings celebrate the patterns, textures, and surfaces of rural life, calling our attention to the rich imagery that we too often overlook in our hectic daily migrations. His work captures moments of inadvertent beauty -- the spaces in between Malay houses, the peeling layers of advertisements, the erosion and decay of house facades. During the 1980s, Anuar had graduate in Graphic Design in Mara University, Shah Alam, Malaysia. For the next decade, his designed and works as curator in National Art Gallery, and was awarded two prestigious prizes for his work. Anuar’s training as an Graphic designer deeply informs his artwork, which explores the transformation of the built environment over time, both by the elements and by the people who inhabit it.
