Santorini

I initially was working on this painting when AW announced a summer art contest, and i can't think of summer without thinking of Greece my beautiful birthcountry , i was also feeling really homesick and sad with the latest events that occured with the plane crash in Athens, i just wanted to do something special and show people through my art my love and beauty for Greece. I have the fondest memories of my summers spend at my birth country, where the skies have the clearest blue color and the seas the deepest blue. Wanted to depict a A beautiful girl perhaps a Greek Goddess enjoying the beautiful scenic view of the Greek Island Santorini . I tried something very different working with colored pencils and gouache on 11x14 vellum board. Many thanks to model paige curtis dove stock -http://dove-stock.deviantart.com/

ahhhh, tis always nice, and i find it admirable that people would have a love of their homeland even though perhaps it has been a long time since they've been there; I have yet to visit greece.....eastwards, the furrtherst i've ventured into Europe is Barcelonna in Spain...but perhaps someday i will visit this most beautiful place of Greece. Such a beautiful painting of a woman, and also the traditons of thy land........it pleases me greatly to see this:D........beautiful
