Nice lighting and texture. Pod looks nicely transluscent!

Excellent back lighting you have given to the peapod.. perfect use of colour values.. they look good enough to eat! I love fresh peas right out of the pod like this, and you have brought them to life in this painting! Fabulous!! :o)

Artist Reply: Oh thank you, Les! Me, too!!

jennifer blenkinsopp 22 May 2005

simply beautiful, excellent work

Artist Reply: How kind of you, Jennifer, to glorify my simple pea pod!

Susan Epps 22 May 2005

It's strange that some of the almost incidental work that we do often turns out better than the BIG piece that we have to brace ourselves for. This is lovely...well done.

Artist Reply: Not so strange, Susan - the bigger the piece, the more room for mistakes! LOL Thank you for your kind comment. :-)

beautiful painting Betty and the shadows are perfect yumm

Artist Reply: Thank you, Stan. Yumm? Does that mean that you are a raw pea fancier, too? Or do you just think the shadows are yumm?

Jerie kunitsky 21 May 2005

This is just wonderful. You make even a simple pea pod look fantastic..

Artist Reply: Thank you Jerie. Well, actually, pea pods and their little inhabitants are rather fantastic - don't you think?

Julie Mayser 21 May 2005

An interesting little still life: love the shadow work, and the highlight of the light shining through the pea pod!

Artist Reply: Thanks loads, Julie! Bless you for noticing the one thing I really like about this painting - the light shining through the pod!!

lerat andree 21 May 2005

Nice job with the painting. I am sure the original is wonderful.

Hello Betty, i read your threads about a more detailed comment amongst us all and will give you my thoughts : ) First, i love how you composed this, having the dark corners at right... your oil and brushwork superb as usual... fine art lovely.. i do also feel that the image is just a tad blurry which is all of our bane here online...also include the size to help me visualize more correctly... your shadow and highlights are top notch... wonderful work Betty : )

Artist Reply: Thanks a bunch, Sher! The size is pretty much what you see - 6 x 8 - it really is just a little guy. I know it's blurry but the fault is entirely mine. I can paint relatively well, but I am a LOUSY photographer!

jim h 21 May 2005

great job,..i wish i could get paint to do this.

Artist Reply: Thanks, Jim. Since I know what you can do with a pencil (!) I'm sure you could make paint behave if you wanted to! Just DO it!
