No Big Deal

This was my first commission oil painting by a rich lady in 1974, painted from an old photograph. The deal didn't went through, I made a big mistake I didn't arranged the price before the work, I asked for US$135 she expected less than US$20. The deal didn't work out, but I was very poor I need the money for my studies...finally I decided to keep my work & she keep her money.....I love this piece very much, it's still with me till now.

Oh Francis, I do love this work too. I cannot imagine someone treating you so awfully as to want to give you only $20. You are a master and that you once were a starving artist is so romantic (I bet you didn't think so at the time!). All the best to you now.

A poignant portrait beautifully painted. Great detail and atmosphere!
