Exploring

Exploring is a 24”X48” painting that is now hanging in the Nashville Tennessee's Metro Police Department’s Domestic Violence Center. ........................ During the dedication of the Nashville Metro Police Department’s Domestic Violence Center – I and some other artists were asked to create a piece of art for the building. After I delivered the first painting I was asked to do another one. The first one was the Hiding Place and this was second one. I wanted to stay within the theme of the first painting and create a sister painting. The first painting showed a rowboat, I was tired of rowing so this time I added a small engine (motor). The storyline is similar to the Hiding Place “I thought about what was calming to me as a child. I thought about how I always loved being outside in a secluded country setting. It always seemed that by being around the beauty of nature, it allowed me to feel closer to what God intended for me. The stillness allowed me to reflect on God’s messages found in nature and to concentrate on His word. I imaged a young boy or girl who might also find comfort in that. Maybe they could sit in the center and daydream about being in a boat under their control, on a peaceful lake, going to places they choose.” ........................................ In this painting we see a sandy spot that needs to be explored and bobbers stuck in the tree instead of on the water. To a child exploring means adventure and the possibility of finding treasure represents hope. I prayed that the children who found this painting would be temporarily lost in a daydream of adventure and hope................... Contact Craig at [email protected]
