This is the other painting I was working on last weekend and finessing through the week. For whatever reason, the 'real' shadow is darker than the photo's. The flip side to hopeful optimism is disillusionment, I think. This is a 16 by 12 inch acrylic painting on gallery-wrapped canvas. When disillusionment sets in, it can blanket an entire city, even one as large as Austin, TX. ;) If you look at the preliminary sketches I've added below, you will see the original sketch and the secondary sketch with added/altered elements. I chose the initial sketch when I painted it but am now thinking of re-doing with some of the added elements. If you think it is worth a second go, please let me know. Thanks. :)

I've be en disillusioned more than once and disappointed way more often. L & L Studio closed because it did not earn enough to stay in business after I took it over.. My first wife wouldn't keep house and couldn't cook without ruining your taste buds. My second wife cooks cleans and looks out after my interests. She also wants me to paint and use my cameras and sell it without going through a gallery. I have yet to sell anything on AW. I used to sell my work through a gallery they sold a number of my paintings and then the gallery changed hands and they made no effort to sell my work.

Artist Reply: Well, look at the bright side, Stan. Your current wife is obviously a keeper. Some of us haven't been so fortunate. :) It's never been easy for artists. Keep the faith, my friend.
