The white chapel

In connection with the watercolors I am making of our village, I restored the St-Donatus chapel like it was about fifty years ago. This chapel erect in commemoration of the great inundation in 1839 when 74 people (or 25% of the population) lost their lives. The little chapel still exist, now, surrounded by houses and covered with stucco. Image size: 260 x 360 mm

GRAND MONUMENT

Artist Reply: Thank you for the comment Elton. This small chapel was built in memory of the flood, in 1839, in my hometown that surprised 78 people in their sleep and drowned or a third of the inhabitants
