This colored pencil painting is based on a photograph I took while on my regular bicycle ride on the Cedar River bike trail in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. The location is just off the section of the trail that runs along the McLoud Run urban trout stream. The reflections of the lush trees on the stream were stunning and caught my eye immediately. I chose to title this piece "Reflections", although I could have referred to this as a study in shades of green. I felt there was a need for a focal point, as well as a need for the presence of the complementary color. To that end I added the male cardinal perched overlooking the stream. The painting was done on Grafix polyester film using Farber-Castell Polychromos and Premier Prismacolor pencils. The size of the artwork is 11 X 14 inches.
