Old Austin Bridge

this old 160 ft. bow string bridge was erected across the Neosho river in 1872 east of what is now Chanute, At 100 years old in 1972, it was moved downstream to the community of Austin, where it was named the "Austin Bridge" In 1977 it was added to the National Register Of Historic Places. In 1999 it was moved to its final resting place south of Chanute and east of the Santa Fe Park as part of 3.11 mile hike and bike trail. It realy is a neat old bridge and has an interesting history, hope you like it as much as I do

I KNOW EXACTLY WHERE THIS BRIDGE IS BUT I SURE DIDN'T KNOW THE HISTORY OF IT....THANKS 4 THE DETAILS JOHN....I LOVE THESE OLD BRIDGES BUT THERE AREN'T MANY OF THEM LEFT....val bale
