As I watched my 'kids' drag in the tree this year I was filled with such bittersweet nostalgia. Somehow I blinked and my babies are grown. My son who once sobbed when his little sister as the youngest inherited the task of putting the angel on the tree is now 6'5" and eye-level with said angel. Ornaments that were once treasured as prized creations made in Sunday School were chuckled over; broken bits of ones that no one ever admits to breaking were tucked away in boxes to be replaced with newer ones. They laughed along with silly Christmas songs teasing each other with their own recollections and for a moment, if I squinted just right, time stood still and it was almost as if they were young again..... So my Christmas wish for you all this year is that your memories, whether they be new or long past, be sweet and that they will always, always be forever green. Original 4 x 4 gallery-wrapped mini painting in a private collection.
