A remarkable skipper and his boat : the « Snark »

Beside a splendid ketch, her name shall always be connected with her well-know owner namely : the writer and adventurer Jack London (1876- 1916). The « Snark » was a 45-foot ketch builded in order of Jack London in 1906 with wich he counted to make a round-the-world voyage together with his wife Charmian and a small crew. Slackening during the building make that the vessel was only ready a year later and obvious had later a lot of troubles who had to be repaired. At last the couple never sailed arround the world but they made a fantastic voyage along the Pacific-islands who took an end in Australia. The account of this voyage Jack London described, spiced with a lot of humor, in his book « The Cruise of the Snark » and it is remarkable how timely his story is still today … Image size : 260 x 360 mm
