Inazuma – Inks

An idea I’ve had for a while now - I was finally able to give it some life. Inazuma is one of my crested geckos (C. ciliatus) and his name is Japanese for lightning. It’s also a term used in fish to describe the pattern on the backs of some kohaku koi, where the hi zigzags like a lightning strike. With this in mind I wanted to make my gecko Inazuma resemble, somewhat, Eastern dragons depicted in art. This piece features the meaning of his name, with clouds and lightning striking all around him. There are two ways to write Inazuma, or lightning, in kanji. I’d like to also revisit this idea later in color and utilize the other manner of writing Inazuma in kanji. In life my gecko has no tail, but I added one to enhance the dragon look. © Parker (Styx) 2014
