Artist comment: "There is an 'urban legend' that if you imbibe to excess, you will see pink elephants. What do you do to see blue elephants? You go to the kite festival! This huge kite filled the sky, towering over the sandy beach. I photographed it with my digital camera and later in my studio, using the photo for reference, I painted it with pastel on textured Canson Mi-Teintes paper. I kept the mood soft with various tones of gray and tan. I then painted the kite with two different blues, a little purple, and black accents to finish the blue elephant kite."
