The image is representing Azrael, Arch Angel of Death, New Orleans style. He was created for the Sugar art and fashion show this past May at the Eiffel Society on St Charles. The "frame" is an old mirror back I painted inside and painted the edge. The background are all old collectable Mardi Gras beads set in meticulous swirls and random patterns. The color palette of oranges,purples and yellows are purposeful. The painting itself is in oil. The small "death and the maiden" themed vignette on top is in acrylic. The whole piece is lacquered. There is even a little bit of good fortune "HooDoo" instilled in him. A blessed dollar bill has been shredded and incorporated into the artwork. See if you can find it ! Size is approx 4x2 ft.
