This is all that remains of a pier going out into Lake Michigan. The composition of the pier making a diagonal is an interesting composition forming a "Z" zig zag. That is a lighthouse and breaker wall on the horizon line. The little white spots on the beach are little white shells that can be somewhat unpleasant to walk on if you have tender feet, so it's best to wear shoes and watch where you walk without shoes. In the water the sand is soft and fine.
