1954-57 Studied at Loughborough College of Art. Won Scholarship to Royal Academy Schools London. It was the same schools attended by Constable, Turner, and Blake, as well as, three of the Pre-Raphaelites: Millais, Holman-Hunt and Rossetti. 1957-61 awarded bronze and silver medals for painting and three David Murray travelling Scholarships for landscape painting, and a portrait drawing prize. Graduated in 1961.
