The “Bounty”

A picture of the replica build in 1960, the original ship, from the well known story, was build for coal transport about twenty-five years after James Cook’s “Endeavour” and shows a more modern and elegant version from last-named. The aspirant navigator on board of the Endeavour was James Bligh, years later as captain of the Bounty during her remarkably voyage to Tahiti, a man who could handle better a ship than man. The replica figured in numerous of films, like recently in “Pirates of the Caribes”, but Sunday she lost the battle against the weathergods and… sank, during the rage of hurricane “Sandy”, fourteen crewmembers are still missing … Picture size: 260 x 360 mm

I have had the pleasure to visit on-board of this beautiful lady, when she made a call to Newport, Rhode Island, U.S.A. It is sad indeed to hear of her demise.
