Harvest is Ready

I first saw a similar photo in a new car advertisement. I wanted to paint it because I loved the colors. I added a cloudy sky to symbolize an open window of opportunity that may be fleeing as potentially damaging storms roll in. The full field “ready for the harvest” and the empty barn also has symbolism. Although wheat would not likely go into that barn after the harvest, the symbolism reminded me of one of Jesus’s parables. From the Old King James Version "...Mat 9:35 And Jesus went about all the cities and villages, teaching in their synagogues, and preaching the gospel of the kingdom, and healing every sickness and every disease among the people. Mat 9:36 But when he saw the multitudes, he was moved with compassion on them, because they fainted, and were scattered abroad, as sheep having no shepherd. Mat 9:37 Then saith he unto his disciples, The harvest truly is plenteous, but the labourers are few; Mat 9:38 Pray ye therefore the Lord of the harvest, that he will send forth labourers into his harvest." Often we Christians hang out with others from our churches and we insulate ourselves from the world as much as we can. That is like living our lives in the barn while the Lord of the harvest has selected us, saved us from the streets, equipped, and commissioned us for such a time. The world is our mission field. Just watching the world rot is not an option. The field is full of people whom God loves and we have been warned and can see the storms coming.
