Rice Paper Butterfly pair

Photo of two Rice Paper Butterflies taken at Magic Wings Butterfly conservatory in Deerfield, Massachusetts. I love This particular type of butterfly- they are so elegant, and remind me of Monarchs.

They look quite curious about that yellow liquid!

Another nice shot. Nice capture of the moment.

Artist Reply: The yellow "liquid" is actually made of stuff that is almost exactly like plastic scrubbers, that acts rather like a wick to bring up the syrupy, rich pre-syrup liquid that slowly made its way down and forward by using the denseness of the syrup over the near-water states that makes the syrup separate from the sap, rising ever upwards until it is finally until they get it up to the "Grade" (the lighter the grade, the gentler, smoother the maple 'power' to the syrup. The darker the grade, goes down the scale. (Up and down the scale is NOT saying better or worse... just a way to scale it. In general, as a simple topping to things I prefer Grade A for topping, but when in Maple-syrup is being used inside something to holds its own over the top of the syrup.
