Great work, Dave. I have been enjoying all of your work, esp. the burnt wood decoration, of course. I am curious why the name "Mary Magadalene" for the series of turned wood jars? Kathleen Menendez, E-Museum of Pyrographic Art pyromuse.org

Artist Reply: Kathleen Thank you for the complement. Having been fortuneate to have spent some time in the Mediterrian when young, I accquired an appreication for Ancient turned art works. In doing online research for turned items in the paintings of the great masters of the Renaissance, I noticed that most painted their version of the story from the Bible of Mary of Magdalene and her "ointment Jar" in anointing the feet of Christ. This has become one Theme in my works. In working with local Mid-West artists, art groups and art collectors, I found that they are not knowledgeable about the great Masters of old Europe. In my promotional pieces I try to give on-line references so they may visit the Worlds great museums and Galleries to see these works and learn about the painters. Thanks again Dave Gahimer
