While the digital painting begins life as one of my original photos taken with my old Pentax K1000 film 35mm SLR the process to alter it is labor-intensive (it's not a photo ran through a filter). The final product looks much more painterly with highly saturated colors than like a photograph. I use both Photoshop and Painter to achieve the final results.
