I have completed a sculpture this week. It required the summer to finally jell. 7 by 7 by 32 inches, made of a wooden framing, a fiberglass shell which is covered in stained paper sheathing and additional miscellaneous materials. It hangs and swings from an overhead support. Titled; "LIL' BINGLE" - A dark shot of it is here...

From Annapolis MD - 'dueling brushes' -- yesterday The picture I completed is as close to my studio practice as I've ever gotten. There were two of these skipjack 'scale' replicas on the Annapolis city dock. One was called 'Bear' and the other 'Bull' I called the pictures 'Little Bear' because the alternative would not work as well...Ha Ha.
In Frederick past sat. I used a large shopping cart. I had altogether about five miles to walk in 90 % heat. I took all my gear (forgetting key stuff to be sure). and had only one instance of a hiccup, which jumbled the load and almost screwed the surface of the wet painting. (which issue I shall soon address by making a 'wet-canvas' carrier.) In the sense that I had - HAD to travel this distance - with all the 'quipment (including a 'comfy' chair) this thing saved my bacon-bitz. Problems occur with the size of it overall. It wont fit in my car trunk, so i have to unload it and put it on my rear seat inna car. It is just kinda too big. SO I'm thinking of soon 'modifying' it by taking it apart, which might involve cutting It up, and reasselembling it to a size and form which will custom work for this direct need. caint doit this week, Cause/and I'm going into annapolis plein-air event this saturday. The distances there from the maps looks to be about 2.5 miles with carting more gear/weight. There is a lot of extra weight on the shopping cart - basket design which I may cut out/away. And the handle length's a problem. But the large wheels are phafect for city brick pavings and cracks. Now to figger where to put the grill, coolers and etc.....
Set-up & subject from Saturday June 22nd - Plein-air paint out in Frederick MD.. I had to move twice and change my subject in order to stay in the Paint Out boundaries. This sorta shook my battle plan of attack...weather and people tho' were very nice.
Other artists insist on including master artists that have influenced their work. My esoteric mix begins:
Pat Canavan, Grace Hartigan and Sal Scarpitta: These three have taught or directly influenced me. My father taught me watercolor and oil painting.
Anyone else I would list would be a passing influence, some of whose works I admire or would desire to copy. This list is about 20+ strong and growing. Mostly they are safely deceased.
This date -- The high school Caricature business is done for the year. Plein-Air season begins in earnest & I am gearing for several events from now until September.
I have finished this sculpture this month. "THE KOBOLD" is 15 inches tall, 8 inches deep & 9 inches wide. in various woods. & I have once again turned off Blog responses due to indiscriminate and sophomoric comments.
