Margie Resto United States Fine ArtistMember Since: 09/04/2010Add to Watch ListJoin E-Mail ListVisit WebsiteContact Margie Resto's goal as a traditional realist painter is to depict the figure through the beauty of color, and the effects of light and texture.

Margie comes from a family background rich with creative influences. Her mother would design and sew dresses and curtains, as well as, all sorts of beautiful things. Her father had his own construction company and would create and build things from scratch including classical guitars. Margie has been drawing since the age of five, however it was not until she studied under Timothy John-Luke Smith, that she found her true gifts. Timothy was her art teacher and opened a whole new artistic world of expression to her. Timothy studied at the Arts Students League under George Passantino and at the National Academy School of Fine Arts under Harvey Dinnerstein.

Margie has been elected a Signature Member of The Pastel Society of America. Her work appeared in over 20 regional and national juried exhibitions, including The Pastel Society of America, The Catherine Lorrilard Wolfe Art Club, The Salmagundi Club, The Connecticut Pastel Society, Allied Artists of America and The National Exhibitions of The Pastel Society of North Carolina and Pastel Painters of Cape Cod. She has won numerous prizes and honors, including best-in-show awards. She currently teaches at Center City Galleries in Paterson, NJ, and is also represented there.

Primarily a figurative painter, Margie creates paintings that portray a timeless elegance and serenity through the concentration of color, light and textures. She feels her work is always developing and each painting is a learning experience. Her favorite artists are Bouguereau, Alma Tadema and Waterhouse among others.

Margie regards her inspirations and artistic talents as gifts from God; She considers it a great blessing to be able to express herself in pastel. Each of her paintings have something specific to say communicating both the emotional and spiritual essence of creation.
