Self Portrait

DanMark(Danica Markovic), born November the 4th, 1983 in Nis, Serbia. Started her painting career when she was 16 years old. Since then she exhibited her works on two group exhibitions that took place in eminent galleries in her home town. Opened her first exhibition as a solo artist in October 2007 (it took place in University galleries in her home town and lasted until November the 25th). Soon after that (April 2008) opened the solo exhibition in Aleksinac and then a great solo exhibition that lasted from November 2010 until March 2011. Her works are inspired with science and dancing, and the main characteristic is precise anatomy drawing. Using mixed media and experimenting with different types of styles she is giving us a glimpse of her inside world. During her career she created designs for many posters and front pages of catalogs and books. Ever since 2001 she had many success on international painting contests for young artists and on international contests in artistic photography. Besides painting, Dan Mark is writing books, stories, and articles considering cultural happenings in her home town and in other countries (rock concerts, exhibitions, ballet shows,...). She is also a member of MENSA Serbia organization since 2002. She finished her studies at the Faculty of Medicine in April 2009, and she is interested in human and molecular genetics. She is currently a PhD student at the Medical Faculty of Nis, section of Molecular Medicine, and an active PhD researcher in the Institute for Biomedical research and in the Laboratory of cell culture. She is currently working as an intern (MD) at the Department for Anesthesiology and Reanimation, Clinical center in Nis, Serbia.
