DANIEL PORTRAIT

This is a portrait I just completed. Daniel is my cousins son. He is from England. I liked the pose and the action of him talking on the phone. Any comments will be appreciated.

The quality of your work is excellent Jan. I like the way you have an overall softness to your compositions with areas of lucidity.

The portrait of Daniel is strong and dynamic, but one suggestion would be to make his left forearm a little larger. With this part of his body being closest to the foreground it should be larger to strengthen the effect of perspective.

Thanks Chris, Yes, a do agree that the forearm is a bit small and I will change that. I am sending this portrait to Daniel for Christmas and I have time to change it up a bit.

I think this is the best piece in your port here. The only comment I have is that your folds in the shirt do not look like you spent as much time studying them as you did the face.

Overall, very nice action piece. I do agree about the shirt, If you want it to be of less importance that the head, maybe it would be better to soften it even more and let that fade out. As it is that part doesn't look finished.

well i love paintings like this catching people in their natural poses. the colours are easy on the eye its a relaxed piece in that sense. you can almost hear him talk ! well done

Looks good so far! The one thing that I noticed was that his left arm that's reaching around his other arm looks a little wonky. The hand is a touch too small and a little misshaped. Compared to the rest of the portrait it looks unfinished.

otherwise, great!

The soft lighting and subdued colours in this are just wonderful. I also like this because of his natural pose. Super job on his eyes and face. I'm sure your cousin and his son are going to love this. Ann
