thanks mary -lee not sure though theres always room for improvement....sometimes i do spoil paintitngs by going back though and trying to add or change something so i shall leave alone

I know what you mean. It's hard to say when a piece is finished or not and when something just seems to bother you about it...and you can't quite put your finger on it.

That's why I rarely have my paintings on my walls, I prefer other peoples. If I do hang one of my paintings I make sure I'm not facing it or the over analyzing drives me nuts.

Then again maybe that's why I keep on going...Odds are after 40 years at it at some point I'm bound to get one that I think is perfect.

This is an example of one painting that drives me nuts...it's in my living room (BEHIND my chair) It's called "A lion in my garden"

Hi Mandy!

I think it's the fact that the roses stand out too much? Maybe I should put a glaze over the whole thing? The roses are just too glaring...I don't know? Or maybe I should just leave it behind my chair and not look at it too much.

I find looking at your piece in the mirror helps since the picture is inverted you see more easily what's bugging you.

I think on your piece, I would like a stronger back ground to anchor your subject more but the cat seems perfect to me. It's just a possibility ?

Keep on Mandy your doing great!

ok on your roses mary-lee i sort of get you now ...maybe glazing it over would bring it all on the same plane.
