This painting was a slightly different approach for me. Where usually I do a full preliminary drawing for this one I only had the idea and basic sketch of the face hair and profile of the subject. I wanted to allow for my Subconscious to filter through whilst painting and let go of some of the control of thinking about how I wanted each detail to turn out.

All I really felt was that I wanted to make it quite ethereal and uplifting, something that felt magical and unusual.

I think its made for a more freer expression.
